 Ateneo got of to a sluggish start while UP drained three straight treys.
When Monfort, above, challenging Mba, got into his groove, sometime in the 2nd Quarter, as a co-photgrapher whispered to me after the game,
"UP lost the game".  At one point he drained a three, stole the ball from U.P. in the ensuing play, then scored on a lay up.

 Once the Eagles started soaring, the Maroons unraveled.
Their perimeter shots started rimming out and Ateneo's bigs started controlling the boards, and the boys in blue started running circles around their Katipunan neighbors.  Ateneo outscored U.P.  23 to 10 in the 2nd,  15 to 12 in the 3rd, and 20 to 14 in the 4th Quarters.
Ateneo won by 20 [77-57].

Losing his cool in the 2nd half, Carlo Gomez, resorted to hitting one of the Ateneo players.  
This was seen by the refs and Gomez was ejected from the game.

Jose, "Jett", Manue,#6, managed only 8 points - same as Mike Silungan 
[whose percentages have'nt been up to par in recent games].
Nobody made double figures in scoring for UP. 

The Ateneo cheerleaders had every reason to smile. 

Their team is the team to beat.

If you would ask Coach Black about his team's level of play, he'll readily admit that his team is not yet performing at peak level.

[Championship Level is what he probably means].
I can't wait.

Recognize This Actress ?

She's big girl now.  She's also the daughter of another famous actress.  Years ago,  I was comissioned by a lifestyle glossy to do the little girl's portraits [35mm film] at their Q.C. residence.  Her Mom, my sometime crush, was quite hospitable and the little one was quite simpatica.  This, of course, made it easier for me to shoot the 90 or so frames.  [Now a part of my private collection]

If mommy jumped in the pool that day,  woulda've gladly shot more  - for free.

Angry Birds [Part 3] Tigers for Merienda

Last July 16, Saturday, vs. the Tamaraws, the Firey Falcons got of to a great start and never looked back.  As I stated, they had Tamaraws for lunch.  This time around, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at the Philsports Arena -
 they had Tigers for merienda.  Adamson beat UST [81-71].

In Rythm

With Authority.

With Aplomb.

 Outta Synch.

In Control

With Confidence.

Bad day at the office.

Tamaraws Tame the Bulldogs

July 24,Sunday

In this 3-point win of FEU over NU [62-59], the  most unusual stat is the 14-point combined scoring output of both teams in the 4th Quarter. The Bulldogs scored only 5 points, while the Tamaraws scored only 9.

The Tamaraws were able to limit the Jr. to only 4 points from the field.
Bobby Ray scored more from the free throw line [7 pts.].  He totalled 11 points in 34 minutes [only 6 minutes rest].  Three other Bulldogs were able to put in double figures, though.  They were Alolino, Ignacio, and Terso.

Not surprisingly, among the Tamaraws, only RR Garcia managed double digits [he had 17 pts.].

Sentcheu put in decent numbers.  In 14 minutes on the floor,
Christian contributed 7 markers.

Coach Bert Flores and company knew that they were dealing with a much more dangerous Bulldog team, as compared to last year.

Two rookies, Parks and Tolomia scramble for possession during the endgame.  Actually, Mbe put NU ahead by 2 pts. [59-57] with about 3 minutes left but Tolomia's trey at 2:42 had the Tamaraws up by one.  And when the Bulldogs failed to score in their next possesion clutch shooter Terence Romeo drilled a two with 1:08 minute left. FEU up by three [62-59].
NU then was able to have 2 more possesions but failed to convert.

Siblings [I Forgot Their Names]

All I remember of these two flaxen haired cherubims is their nationality.

They are Danes.  Their mom, [whose name I've also forgotten] who comissioned me to do their family portraits [at San Lo in Makati], was a high ranking officer in the Danish embassy in Manila.

Maybe, when I get that proficient with Adobe, I might just add a pair of little wings on each of these girls' backs.  Just Maybe.  

FYI, this is another JPEG from a scanned [8 x 10] analogue color print.  The raw material used was 35mm color negative film.  Camera was a Nikon N90 35mm SLR. Crafty use of available outdoor light [my Favorite] brought life to this image.

Angry Birds [Part 3] The Phenom Dunks

The Big "K" slams.
Although Kiefer scored only 4 points in the last quarter 
 [he totalled 13 in the game], this one-hander, of a fastbreak in the 4th, 
brought the house down.

True Warrior.
Paul Zamar frustrates Ateneo's big big, Slaughter, on this first half sequence.
Zamar topscored for UE with 13 while Slaughter topscored for Ateneo with 18.
Greg converted on only 4 of his 11 charities and took 10 boards.
Monfort, Ateneo's shortest man, had 6 rebounds.

The effectiveness of the Blue Eagle offense is predicated on Sharp Defense..

Here, Sumalinog intercepts a pass to Montelibano resulting in an Ateneo fasbreak.  Once Ateneo gets its fastbreaks going, you're goose is cooked.

UE managed to keep apace with ADM during the first half, even leading by a point on several occasions. The 2nd quarter ended with the Eagles ahead by only 3. Come the 3rd, the boys from Loyola increased their lead and were able to enter the 4th quarter with a 9-point cushion.

Impact player Quami Tiongson eludes Zamar then Noble for a sure one.

Quami had 8 markers while John had 11.
